Currently, the integral strategy for the development of this area is being designed. As part of this strategy, Posad is simultaneously working on the realization of several projects which will start off the development in the short-term. In the final stage of the strategy, the area surrounding the subway station will be a locally based urban junction for small-scale enterprises. It will be well-known in the region, but at the same time strongly associated with the neighbourhood.

Important and distinctive qualities of the area were designated to specify the strategy. Firstly, Southern Rotterdam, including Pendrecht and Zuidwijk, is home to newcomers to The Netherlands and to people with no or limited education. The current restructuring has an influence, but does not eliminate this element. The second quality has to do with the large green public spaces that Zuidpark offers. Thirdly, the Erasmus line or Randstadrail plays a major part in the daily urban transport system of the area. The line offers ten-minute connections between key urban centers and junctions for public transport, and serves as a phenomenal attraction for newcomers. A fourth important quality is the structure of Pendrecht and Zuidwijk. They are green, spacious and quiet ‘islands’ within the city, surrounded by green areas. Finally, the extended Zuiderparkweg will serve as a connection between Albrandswaard and the city.
